Celebrating our 10th anniversary!

OOPS, YOU MISSED LAWRENCE ARTWALK 2004!

Celebrating our 10th anniversary this year, the Lawrence ArtWalk featured a two-day self-guided tour of Lawrence artists' studios and other art spaces, and showcased the fabulous art created by many of Douglas County's fine artists. Over 90 artists exhibited their incredible artwork at 41 locations in and around Lawrence, and included three artists' groups featuring the work of over 40 member artists. To make it easier to get around town on Saturday's ArtWalk day, the day was designated as a free ridership day by the city's "T" bus system!

Unique for this year was a preview exhibition of participating artists' work, which also included a retrospective display of promotional artifacts from the event's first nine years. Ad astra eclectica galleria, a recent addition to Downtown Lawrence's wonderful gallery scene, was the host for the exhibition. The gallery occupies the space formerly occupied by the Lawrence Arts Center's Dance Annex at 205 W. 8th St. and is located just a block away from the main Downtown stop for "T" bus routes.

Whereas in past years the Lawrence ArtWalk also featured art galleries, this year's ArtWalk focused on individual artists and their creative work environments.

The Lawrence ArtWalk was a fabulous opportunity to meet several of the Lawrence area's finest artists, visit artists' studios that are not usually open to the general public and purchase locally produced art. Guidebooks and maps were available at ad astra eclectica galleria and many other locations around town.
