Libby is a native Kansan who has loved to draw and paint since childhood. Having pursued a career as a Substance Abuse counselor, she found that making art was also effective with her clients. Libby altered her career path upon obtaining her master’s degree and board certification in Art Therapy. She recently opened Art & Insight - a private practice in art therapy with a studio and personal gallery in west Lawrence – where she pursues her own painting as well as conducting art classes and providing art therapy to individuals and groups. In addition, she is on the faculty of the graduate Art Therapy program at Emporia State University.

Libby works in pastel, acrylic and mixed media and most of her paintings are landscapes done from her own photographs, which are personal ‘portraits’ of the wooded area surrounding her home in Jefferson County, Kansas. She finds a never-ending source of inspiration at home, for even a supposedly identical view varies with changes in the light, the seasons and the years.
