Ranging
in style from Realistic to Abstract, Laurie works with acrylics on canvas,
pastels and mixed media on gypsum, monotypes, fabric, beads, hand-made paper
collage and more. Her artwork is subtle, understated, whimsical and pointedly
to the essence. She has exhibited regionally, nationally and internationally,
and has received numerous awards, including a 2002 Phoenix Award in Visual
Arts, Lawrence, Kansas. She earned a BFA in Painting & Drawing from the
University of Kansas; is a former co-president and former vice-president of the
Lawrence Art Guild; and is a 1987 founding member of the F.A.N. Club, a women
artists' support group. Laurie has also volunteered as art exhibit coordinator
for the Lawrence Public Library for a total of 15 years. |
