"Homeland Security"
Mixed-media collage
16 x 12 inches
2007
$250

Lora's artwork captures moments of intrigue. Homeland Security is a collage based on the bizarre sense of being watched under the spotlight of a helicopter hovering above her home one night. Enchanter, and Boy and Butterfly, both scratchboard drawings, are based on her delight in watching a four-year old imagine and play. Her drawings and collages, original postcards and mosaics are rich with visual texture and stories keenly told. Lora, who teaches Sketchbook-Journaling at the Lawrence Arts Center, is a writer, illustrator and artist. She is also an expert on Kansas's murals and co-authored, with Dave Loewenstein, the book Kansas Murals: A Traveler's Guide. The book was published in 2006 by the University Press of Kansas and recognized as a 2007 Notable Book by the Kansas Center for the Book at the State Library of Kansas.
