Jason was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas but subsequently lived for a while in San Francisco, where he developed a love for cycling and worked as a bike messenger. He originally aspired to be a writer but a serious bicycle accident, in which he suffered a brain injury, forced him to rethink his future and find another outlet for his creative self-expression. He returned to Lawrence in 2000 to be near friends and family, and to focus his energies on his rehabilitation and painting.
Since returning, Jason's paintings have been featured at many local businesses and acquired for numerous private collections. His participation in a previous Lawrence ArtWalk earned him inclusion in the Fall 2007 edition of the Lawrence Magazine, and his first solo show of new works at Lawrence's Invisible Hand Gallery resulted in a feature article in the Pulse section of the May 15, 2010 edition of the Lawrence Journal-World newspaper.
Jason's approach to his work is 'basically intuitive' and relies heavily on the painting process itself for inspiration and discovery.
