Kathleen's watercolor paintings reflect a love of color,
often evoking a phrase from viewers of ‘happy colors.’ She loves to explore the
effects of light and shadow, along with the soft effects of working
‘wet-in-wet’ and letting the colors mix and flow. Her subjects range from
landscapes and buildings to vibrant florals, and the challenge of capturing the
personality of her favorite cat. Seascapes are also a favorite subject,
stemming from her years of living on the East Coast where she explored the seashore and
historic fishing communities of the Chesapeake Bay. She is a member of the
Lawrence Art Guild, the Greater Kansas City Art Association and Images Gallery
in Kansas City's Westport area. She has participated in juried shows in the Washington DC
area, Kansas City and Lawrence. She currently teaches watercolor classes at her
home.
