“Rush Hour”
Photo-impressionist painting on canvas
20 x 14 inches
2005
$300 |
Robbin,
a working photographer for over 25 years, received her
BFA in Photography from the Kansas City Art Institute.
After working as a freelance photographer in Kansas
City and then as the head of photography for
University Relations at the University of Kansas, she
now has her own photo studio, Sterling Image, in
Lawrence, Kansas.
Robbin’s work is a blending of photography, painting
and computer technology. Beginning with an original
photograph she uses the computer to transform the
image. This process – which is never the same and
allows the image to ‘guide’ her - can be as simple as
stretching and pulling pixels, adding or removing
color, or completely painting a new image on top of
the photograph. The resulting image is then printed on
canvas or watercolor paper, to which natural media are
hand applied thus making each piece a unique original. |
