Sandy
is a University of Kansas Law Professor who grew up in
Albuquerque, New Mexico and moved to Lawrence in 1979.
Her acrylic paintings feature bright, intense colors,
influenced by the desert light and rich culture of the
Southwest. She does not work from drawings or plans
but approaches painting in the spirit of mindfulness,
enjoying the simple act of applying paint to paper.
She often cuts her painted pages into pieces and
arranges them into smaller compositions. These works
invite the viewer to look closely and appreciate the
beauty of patterns and unexpected connections in the
artwork and beyond. Sandy's favorite vibrant colors
are also featured in her knitted toys. Her Healing Art
Studio is named in recognition of the healing power of
art in her life. |
