Born in
southeastern Kansas, Roger developed an early appreciation for nature and the
open landscape. Upon moving to Lawrence during the late 70's to attend the
University of Kansas, the campus's architecture sparked his interest in
photography. Concurrently with the study of physics and electrical engineering,
Roger began an independent study of photography and was further influenced by
the work of Ansel Adams.
Roger
now works mainly with large format equipment and shoots exclusively with film.
His chosen areas of study are landscape, nature and architecture. All
geographical areas of Kansas hold his interest but he is also drawn to the
State and National Parks, or to any subject that holds some geological,
historical or purely aesthetic significance. Roger's greatest concern is the
slow but steady demise of such landscapes and of much historic architecture.
That his work might aid in the documentation, protection or preservation of any
such worthy subject is his greatest aspiration. |
