Jewell paints in acrylic with a palette knife
and paints outdoors when possible. Her work can usually be seen in exhibits
sponsored by the Lawrence and Topeka Art Guilds of Kansas. When paintings pile
up that no one is buying, Jewell thinks, Why am I doing this? Then she goes
outdoors under a blue sky and above deep-green foliage with water shimmering
with reflections or to a meadow of wildflowers and thinks, How could I not
paint? To Jewell, painting is an expression of joy in the natural world, with a
face that intrigues her, or an expression of man's creativity. Painting is a
resounding Yes! |
