Roger spent his early years in southeastern
Kansas, and from that rural environment gained a deep appreciation for nature
and the open landscape. Relocating to Lawrence during the late 70's to attend
the University of Kansas, the campus's collection of architecture was also an
influence as his interest in photography began to develop.
With a solid
understanding of B&W photography, Roger's interest turned to larger formats
and color. He now employs only medium- and large-format equipment to capture
landscapes, nature and architectural subjects. He is drawn to the state and
national parks, or to any subject with geological, historic or purely aesthetic
significance. Kansas is his favorite subject, and he most enjoys the
documentation of its many geologic regions, unique features and rural areas.
One of Roger's greatest concerns is the negative impact that we have on these
wondrous areas. That his photography may help to protect or preserve any such
worthy subject is undoubtedly his greatest aspiration. |
