Judi grew up on the Gulf Coast of the southern United States. Both of her parents were artists,
which explains why she began painting at eight years old. She has a BA in Fine Art and an MA
in Painting. She married George Kellas and moved to the Midwest in 1968, and subsequently
taught at the University of Kansas in the early 1970s. She works in her studio daily and her
principal media are mixed-media painting, collage, silverpoint drawing, serigraphy and linocut.
