Sandy approaches painting in the spirit of mindfulness, using the process of painting as a
meditation practice. She does not work from photographs or drawings but, instead, simply allows
the painting "to lead the way." She enjoys experimenting with transparent watercolors, acrylic
paints, and different types of paper, and with collage to produce mixed-media pieces. Her art is
influenced by the physical and spiritual landscape of New Mexico, where she lived before moving
to Kansas. She is navigating the transition from her career as a University of Kansas Law
Professor to retirement and much more time for art.
