Tony uses his camera to capture the subtle beauty of everyday things that are often missed, and
the world around him as he sees it. He is particularly drawn to the play of light, color, texture,
and unexpected connections. His work does not fit neatly into any particular category. When he
once went on a trip with a friend and she looked at his photographs, she asked, "Were we in the
same place?" Tony's perspective and what he saw were completely different to her experience.
That was when he realized that he had an Uncommon Vision of the Common World.
"Peterson covers a wide range of subjects with his work but the nature of structures and the
structures of nature are common threads… He focuses not so much on the objects themselves but
on focal points and resonant visual elements, so that each is as much a study in shape and symbol
as a record of the thing being photographed." - ArtKC365, June 26, 2011. Tony is a graduate of
the University of Kansas with a degree in Journalism.
