Lawrence ArtWalk 2019: October 11, 12, and 13

24th annual self-guided tour of Lawrence artists’ studios and other art spaces featuring the visual artists of Douglas County, Kansas.

Registration fees:
·       Artist Early Bird (on or before June 30, 2019): $75
·       Artist Registration (after June 30, 2019): $85
·       Tiered group rates for studios & collectives: 3-5 artists $200, 6-9 artists $250, 10 or more artists $300

You are invited to participate in this year’s Lawrence ArtWalk, which will be our 24th annual open studios event! Once again, we are providing you with an opportunity to exhibit your artwork in the comfort of your own home or studio (or a fellow artist’s) while we entice as many patrons as we can to visit you through our extensive marketing campaign! This is also a great chance to sell artwork early for seasonal gifts. Last year, about 60 artists (including artists participating with artists’ groups) exhibited their work at 24 locations in and around Lawrence as part of The Lawrence ArtWalk.

Artists have the option to exhibit their artwork for extended hours between Friday-Sunday, in addition to the official hours of Saturday October 12th, 10am-6pm and Sunday the 13th from noon-6pm.

Once again, The Phoenix Gallery will host an exhibit to showcase Lawrence ArtWalk participants during the month of October with the kick-off reception at the September Final Friday in the fine arts gallery.  Check out last year’s exhibit at The Phoenix Gallery here.  Artists may submit 1-2 works of art and the exhibit will run through October. This will be a great way to get potential ArtWalk participants excited about ArtWalk and another venue to distribute maps. Phoenix Gallery will take their usual commission.

There are three categories of participation for artists:

(1) Artist, whether participating solo or with others;

(2) Studio (with or without Commercial Gallery Space), which includes production studios; and

(3) Collective, which includes artists’ groups.

Artists must be residents of Douglas County or reside at a Lawrence address, OR have a Douglas County or Lawrence address for their studio or place of employment; be 21 years of age or older, and display only their own original artwork at a Lawrence-area location. Studios with commercial gallery spaces must meet Artist’s requirements for the studio portion of their business and register all of the Studio’s lead artists. Collectives must have a Lawrence-area address at which work is exhibited and display only the work of their members.

Artists’ benefits include:

~ eligibility for the Featured Artist Award, which includes a $150 cash award in exchange for using the artist’s artwork image(s) for promotional purposes;

~ a page on the Lawrence ArtWalk 2019 website; and

~ promotional postcards and guide maps.

Eligibility for the Featured Artist Award is only guaranteed if all registration materials (e.g. registration form, fee, and photos) are submitted by the June 30 (early bird) deadline.  The Featured Artist Award is limited to artists registered under the Artist or Studio categories. This year’s Featured Artist will once again be selected by all ArtWalk registrants via online voting.

The official registration deadline is July 30, 2019 (note that early bird deadline is June 30). Registration form may be submitted electronically using the online submission form.  A printable pdf form is available upon request.  Registration fee may be paid via Check or Money Order or online using PayPal.  Artwork images must be submitted electronically via Dropbox (or via e-mail, but Dropbox is preferred) while slides and prints are not accepted.
