Artist Biographical Statement
Jen Unekis lives in a little yellow bungalow by the river with her husband David and daughter Adeline. She was born in Los Angeles but spent her childhood in rural Kansas, Oklahoma and Idaho. She moved to Lawrence in 1983 to attend KU and is happy to call Lawrence her home. She is currently working in acrylic paints, graphite and oil stick on plaster board. Jen creates layered painted surfaces by removing and adding elements until she has created the piece she is looking for. Each work evokes a feeling and mood with its own personality.
