Artist Biographical Statement
Currently employed at KU as the Marketing Creative Director at the Lied Center of Kansas, Shala Stevenson brings 25 years of expertise in graphic design to her new love of mixed media collage, where her playful sense of humor (and occasional sarcasm) show through in layers of detail and unexpected depth. Inspired by her late brother, Alan, Shala’s creative drive encompasses many media. In her home studio you may see acrylic paintings, origami containers, digital photography, and pysanky eggs. Shala has shown her work online, in multiple Final Friday shows and most recently at the Phoenix Gallery in downtown Lawrence.
